Travel: How to Save Money when Planning a Holiday*

travel tips advice hotels venice italy

Hello again, lovelies. As you know, I always like bringing you beautiful travel pictures, but unfortunately at the moment I don't have the time to travel, so here are a few useful tips, as it's already time to plan the holidays. I really hope these pics give you serious wanderlust, like they did to me!

Holidays are very expensive, but there are some very simple tips you can use to save money. This guide will show you how to save money when planning a holiday. Whether you are going abroad, or staying in the country these tips will help your money go that bit further.

1. Shop Around
The internet has made it easier than ever to compare deals and shop around. You can search using sites like http://comparehotelprices.co.uk and Expedia to compare deals in the comfort of your own home. The beauty of the internet is that there is no hard sell and you are free to take your time to compare the very best deals available.

2. Consider Staying at Smaller Hotels
Instead of opting for the well known hotels, consider choosing a smaller guesthouse or bed and breakfasts. These are not only cheaper, but will also give you a unique experience you wouldn't get in one of the larger hotels. When travelling abroad you will often get a more unique local experience by staying in these smaller guesthouses.

3. See the Sights yourself
If you often travel as part of a tour group to see the major sights then this can add quite a lot to the cost of your holiday. Consider getting a guide book, or simply reading online. You can take the book with you so that you still know all the interesting facts without paying someone to show you.

4. Don't Travel During the Peak Season
If you have school age children then you might be restricted to the times when you can travel. However, if you can travel at any time of the year then try avoiding the school holidays. During the school holidays the cost of all holidays, whether they are in the UK or abroad goes up significantly. Always try to travel out of season wherever possible.

 5. Be Flexible
When booking flights be as flexible as you can. Sometimes varying the flight dates by a few days can reduce the price by quite a large amount. Try to put different dates in the flight search engines to find the best deals.

Holidays are expensive, but these tips can make it a bit more affordable. This should mean that you will have more money left over to enjoy while you are on holiday.
